Girls Gymnast

A girl gymnast is a being of beauty and grace. She can dance happily and agilely through a floor routine and, yet, show unbelievable strength as she leaps over the vault. A young girl gymnast trains hard to be successful. The smart ones and those who love the sport also have fun.

Not everyone will become a champion in this sport, or an Olympian. For some girls, gymnastics is a way of improving their body image, of developing new skills and making new friends. For other girls, gymnastics provides a solid grounding for other sports or life events. A cheerleader can apply gymnastics as can a tumbler.

A girl gymnast, starting at a young age, can quickly develop physical and mental skills applicable in other sports and other aspects of her life. Gymnastics teaches agility, flexibility, co-operation, acuity, balance and grace. It establishes a healthy pattern of discipline and exercise a girl can retain for her entire life.

More Info

Gymnastics can abet a girl who is interested in other sports such as tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobats and field hockey. It is helpful for cheerleaders and acrobats. Circus performers, especially for a troupe like the Cirque du Soleil, and mimes require specific gymnastic skills. Stunt women and actors find gymnastic skills helpful. After all, through mastering gymnastics, a girl gymnast learns better control and a more complete understanding of the interplay between her muscles and the rest of her body components. This manifests itself clearly in the pictures of girl gymnasts. There is a poise and a certainty in their look.

Such a characteristic confidence can carry over into their everyday lives. A project for a caring parent would be to document the growth of their child in the sport by taking photos of her as a girl gymnast as she makes her way through the program. The story could begin with her introduction to gymnastics and progress with her through her first competition and onwards as she progresses from one level to the next. If it is a storybook story, she will end up an Olympian.

Not too many girl gymnasts, however, end up on a world or Olympic podium. Very few make it. Some lose interest, some succumb to injuries and still others grow up. Gymnastics is a sport that does not devour its female young. Instead, it tries to force them to remain young. If this does not become possible, the sport spits them out.
