High School Gymnastics
High school gymnastics provides increased possibilities for young gymnasts to hone their skills. Gymnastics at the high school level increases the level of competition and opens up further avenues for development. High school gymnasts may be able to travel further and take part in inter-school meets. This expands their level of involvement, introduces them to other approaches and helps them expand their friend base.
Different high schools offer varying degrees of intensity and levels of skill training and involvement. Some schools offer no gymnastics programs or very basic ones; other schools are intensely committed to being the best in their division at the local, regional, state and national championships. A high school gymnast who is serious about the sport must carefully consider which school to attend if this is an option available to him or her. Attendance in active high school gymnastics’ program may help advancement to a college gymnastics program. Furthermore, being a member of the right high school gymnastics team may help a gymnast pay for their education by obtaining a gymnastics scholarship to a college or university.
